Microsoft reveals the new Xbox One console

Microsoft yesterday revealed their first major update since 2005 with their new console, the Xbox One, which integrates TV, internet and gaming all in one.

Not only does the console integrate this technology, but also measures your heartbeat and has voice recognition technology that Xbox executive, Marc Whitten, said “It changes everything, this is rocket-science stuff”.

The reveal came at an event yesterday in Richmond, Washington, where Microsoft unveiled its ambitious hopes for the new Xbox console. Featuring many new elements, it was clear that Microsoft aims to set itself apart from other brands with the introduction of a new TV series, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the best selling Halo games, which will exclusively be available on Xbox One. Attempting to stay ahead of their competitors, Microsoft said new content for the popular Call of Duty game will be available to download on the Xbox One before any other system. Although Microsoft said more games would be shown at next month’s E3 video games conference in Los Angeles, they gave little detail on games, apart from glimpses of EA Sport’s Fifa and a range of new cars in Forza Motorsport 5.

Other features of the new Xbox One include:

  • 8GB of Ram
  • Blu-ray drive
  • 64-bit architecture
  • 500GB on board hard drive.
